Walking The High Line, NYC

Hello Travelers,

Today I was talking about my short short visit to NYC and I decided to write a little about The High Line.

The High Line is an outdoor public park that was built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It is a 1.45-mile-long stretch that runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th and 12th Avenues. (http://www.thehighline.org/)

This urban park is a beautiful combination of industrial with natural, surrounded by green while you walk along the old and exposed railway tracks. The High Line is not only for visitors and tourists. Along the path there is café-style tables and chairs, built-in wooden loungers, and wider areas with benches tucked away behind trees or gardens that are ideal for any New Yorker to sit and read or just relax.

While walking at the High line, you can appreciate the architecture. Asymmetric buildings, rooftop gardens, and edgy apartment buildings, that seem to have grown around the High Line just as the flowers and trees have.

There are also lots of places around the High Line to eat, I went to the Chelsea Market, where you can find food for every wallet and it’s a quite nice place to visit, eat, shop and appreciate the architecture and design.
